Somewhere between 2002 and 2006 this painting came into being and I am truly inspired by not only its content but the way in which it came to be. On the day it was birthed I decided to just put on the music and allow myself to just be with the music. I went out into my studio/come patio where I held the workshops at about 9am the next thing I remember other than the music and painting was thinking I must get myself a drink of water. I looked at the clock in the kitchen and discovered it was now 3pm. I had worked for six hours without a break to eat or drink or anything else. So I prepared myself a drink and a quick bite and went back out to look at my days’ work. To say I was surprised by what I was looking at would be an understatement I absolutely love this painting. It was created in a totally meditative state and the time just seemed to go so quickly it didn’t seem like six hours had passed. |
It’s a very happy, joyful painting full of light and is another painting I can turn around and see an entirely different aspect to it other than the initial one.
The first story shows me Mother Nature adorned with and hiding amongst her children with flowers and birds. She is reminding me of the wonder and pure joy that can be experienced within her landscape wherever it is.
The second story is full of birds and a lizard that has been captured by a huge bird perhaps an eagle, holding the lizard’s tongue in is beak.
There is a blue spiral coming from the centre of these scenes, I can only think this is a representation of being drawn into that dimension and doing the painting in that meditative state.
Mother Nature is reminding me that there are two sides to nature, not only the awesome beauty but the vital aspect of it is that to survive in nature one animal gives its life for another to survive. Every aspect of nature is interrelated.
How blessed are we that we have access to such beauty, colour and experience in this world of ours. Imagine how depressing it would be if there was no colour, no light, no sunshine or birds to sing, butterflies to live and die and reproduce or give us silk or the joy or experiencing nature in all its forms.
Learning to have GRATITUDE is a big part of growth. Bless you all for your differences and your contributions to this life.
