This is a painting I did in 2005, for the specific purpose of advertising. I was endeavouring to promote my business via the local newspaper. The reporter wanted to take photos of some artworks I had completed previously and also with me in the process of painting something.
Well Spirit and my Inner Child decided it was time to play and that is how ‘Trust’ came into being. As with many of my paintings I can see different stories in them, and then have to decide which one to give a voice to. One story was about grief and loss but overlaid with something totally the opposite…sea creatures and fantasy in the form of a young wizard and his young female friend. So to keep the content light and joyful I chose the latter which I love anyway, however had I trusted the former |
story perhaps this endeavour would have been more productive. It is a therapy process after all, as well as being a fun and creative pastime to enjoy, learning to paint and find you are creative after all.
In this one there are a number of young people, the wizard being one of them, and others I can only speculate appear to be from Hogwarts School of Magic. There’s that sense of humour they are trying to instil in me over the years.
It depends on your way of looking at the picture as to how you perceive this particular painting, there are many seals, birds a dolphin and other things as well as these young people.
I’ve also learnt that most of my clients come via word of mouth or talks I’ve done, the means of usual advertising don’t seem to work. Therefore I have come to the realisation that indeed I need to TRUST. This has not been the easiest lesson for me and I am sure Spirit is having a real belly laugh at me admitting to that one.
